Simply wonderful.
As a young man I was privileged to have grown up with a Grandmother who did not have the use of her legs since she was 9 years old due to Polio and then after she passed on my Grandfather lost his ability to use his legs due to cancer.
For the remaining 15 years of his life my Grandfather and I would spend every summer together at our small beach cottage, and as a young man (a child) I would push my Grandfather’s heavy wheelchair up-town every night so that he could remain an active member of the small beach community.
Due to his age and limited strength he was never able to join me on the beach as I frolicked amongst the surf and the dunes during the day; however, I recognize that his heart is with me each and everyday.
It is in this spirit of love and hope, that I would like to say thank you for all of those who have surpassed their physical hurdles to follow their passions and live their dreams.
And we say that we have limitations!
Today is my birth day. Watching these athletes & answering these questions is the best gift I could give my self. I have been wanting to really answer this question for a long time. Thank you for the opportunity Kris!
i feel blessed have the body that i have, that allows me the freedom that i enjoy. but to see that others do not have the same body, still able to exceed “limitations” or “capacities” that others might impose….THAT is incredible strength + inner power to not be held back by anyone else’s perception of your truth.
these videos were truly inspirational, motivating + revealing on so many levels: the human will is indomitable. why would i let someone else’s perception of what i can achieve stand in my way or alter my dreams?
