A YOGA RETREAT IN BALI, INDONESIA WITH SCOTT RENNIE AND KELLY DAVIES
Sometimes the world around us can leave us feeling pretty small. The pressures of modern living can cage us in and prevent us from following our heart’s desire.
In a culture where we always look outside for answers, how can we reverse the tide? How can we walk the path of authentic living when this world overwhelms us every day?
The answer lies within you! By taking the time and space to reclaim the connection to your sacred inner landscape you can rediscover who you are and what you need. The Ancient Ways of Yoga, those sacred and often secret practices that rarely see the inside of a modern group yoga class, hold the key to unravelling your authentic self.
Join Kelly and Scott on the magical island of Bali for a revitalising retreat that will guide you back towards the place where you will find your answers.
In that held space, we will explore the subtle energies within our body, through the ancient yogic framework of the five great elements – earth, water, fire, wind and void. For five days and nights we will be nourished as we learn to play in the simplicity of embodied movement, breath and deep awareness. We will deepen our explorations of self, far beyond the physical, through sacred sound and gesture, ritual and ceremony, and many more of Yoga’s near-forgotten practices.
In the safety of our own integrity, we will taste our desires and uncover how to open out and give voice to what lies inside us. Reclaiming what has always been ours, we will return home refreshed and revitalised at every level, ready to stay connected with our inner world.
This retreat is suitable for all levels of Yoga experience, and is suitable for anyone with a genuine interest in reconnecting with their deepest authentic nature.
Our venue for this retreat is the beautiful Shankari’s Retreat Centre in Bali. This beautiful space, built by the sacred Balian River will not only provide us with our living accommodation, but has 2 yoga areas, 3 swimming pools, a cafe and boutique and serene gardens, making it an amazing sanctuary to relax in.
It is located in Suraberata, which is 90 minutes’ drive from Bali International Airport. Please have a look at the website to see the accommodation on offer. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided each day and the cafe is available at other times for other food and beverage needs.
Our retreat will begin at 7pm on Sunday 1 March 2015 with a welcome meeting and ceremony, and will end about 4pm on Friday 6 March 2015 with our closing ceremony. Our practices will be at varying times and locations, for about 6 hours each day (mostly split between morning and early evening) depending upon practice intensity and other factors such as travel.
Each day you will also have free time to rest, enjoy the nearby beach or to explore Bali’s many tourist attractions.
Kelly and Scott first met in 2007 while studying Yoga Therapy with the Desikachar family at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. They had both started studying in the Krishnamacharya tradition in 2004.
Kelly started teaching Yoga in her native Australia in 2004 and has a particular interest in meditation, energetic system/chakras, chanting and personal empowerment/transformation and enjoys the creative interaction of Yoga with song, dance and expressive art.
Scott began teaching yoga in Scotland in 2005, and his later influences include Somatic Yoga (through his Tantsu teacher, Ateeka) and Buddhist philosophy and meditation practices in the Soto Zen and Vajrayana traditions. Scott incorporates these teachings into his Yoga along with his learning from experiences in shamanism, conscious men’s groups and sacred ceremony for spiritual transformation. Scott published his first book (One Per Cent Yoga: How to practise Yoga every day) in 2014 and has recently returned from 2 months teaching Yoga at New Life Foundation in Thailand.
COST AND BOOKING
Please note that this retreat is now finished so it is not possible to book.
This cost includes your accommodation in a twin room (no AC) and all meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner) at the Retreat centre, and all our programmed classes and practices for the week.
All other expenses are not included, such as your travel to/from Bali, airport transfers, any massage or beauty treatments at the Retreat, private one-to-one sessions with Kelly and Scott, and the cost of snacks, drinks and other entertainment during your stay.
